The Small Business Owner's Guide to Digital Marketing Success

As a fellow entrepreneur and host of The Brian Nichols Show podcast, I’m always on the hunt for actionable tips to grow my business. “You can’t go to places and just, you know, understand this, you got to go where people are. If you don't have a website, how are you going to get found on Google? If you don't have social media? Remso stressed the importance of setting up basic digital real estate - getting a website, signing up for key social platforms, building an email list. Without these foundations, potential customers won’t be able to find or engage with your brand online.

Create Value Through Content

“It's basically this, it's always building upon two things, trust and value. First, they want to know that you actually know what you're talking about. They want to know that the typical questions or concerns that the average customer has has been answered and is routinely being touched upon." - Remso Martinez

Customers today want expertise and education. Developing a content strategy allows you to showcase your knowledge while addressing the questions and pain points your audience cares about.

Whether through social media, blogging, videos, or a podcast like mine, create that trust and familiarity with your niche so you become the go-to resource.

Master the Art of Conversion

“You have to go ahead and justify a funnel, in which you're building that trust, discovery, accessibility, peaking interest and a call to action. How is the actual conversion out there?" - Remso Martinez

Driving traffic is nice, but you need to turn those visitors into leads and customers. Remso emphasized optimizing your marketing funnel to convert that awareness into action. 

Make sure you have clear calls-to-action across your digital properties and quantify with key performance indicators. No more vanity metrics - focus on sales!

Match Marketing and Sales

"The thing about marketers is that you are providing the immediate answer to people that have an immediate problem. The thing for sales is that the people have already identified hopefully, through your marketing, through your marketing capabilities, is that you can provide the solution." - Remso Martinez

As both a marketer and salesperson, this resonated big time! When your marketing and sales teams embrace their complementary roles, it unlocks exponential growth.

Marketing draws in qualified leads, then sales focuses on closing them. Aligning these functions creates a flywheel effect.
